ALA NM Girls State Delegate Session Information

Congratulations on registering to attend the American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Girls State Program!

We look forward to seeing you at the ENMU campus in Portales, NM from
Sunday, June 2 - Friday, June 7.

Check-in is Sunday, June 2 from 10 am - 1 pm in the Eddy Hall dorm.

We hope this 6 days of intensive hands on learning will be a once in a lifetime experience you will remember forever.

In preparation for this year's session here is some information to review on
session and forms for download/print required for attendance.

You will receive an email with a link to this page in confirmation of your submission.
Please keep this email and/or bookmark this page as this will be the only way to access
session documentation after you leave this page. 

Items in this column must be received ASAP.

Originals are required for session but we need a copy of documents in hand ASAP to ensure we have all necessary info for attendees.

Scholarship Opportunities - Optional:

Attendees to ALA NM Girls State are eligible for a $1000 scholarship awarded from the New Mexico American Legion Riders. Applications are due by Sunday, June 2 at 10 pm. For details on applying please click here to download the scholarship form.

Please download and print forms. Ensure all information is legibly printed using blue or black ink.

College Credit

Attendees of American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Girls State will be eligible to receive 3 college credit hours from Eastern New Mexico University. These credits are fully transferable and offered at no cost to attendees of ALA NM Girls State. 

Requirements to earn credits include:

  • Participate in and complete the entire American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Girls State session.
  • Register with ENMU following presentation from ENMU representative during session.
  • Complete Bill/Resolution/Memorial Project
  • Create a report on experiences during session. Details will be provided during session to complete report during session.

Course Details: EDF 268 Education and the Political Process

Transcripts, credit details or transfer information is available through the ENMU registrars office following session.

Community Service Project

While practicing government we also will practice good citizenship during the week. Our Community Service Project this year will be making school supply packs for local NM Elementary schools. We hope to make 100 packs this year! If anyone is interested in bringing donations we are looking for:

• Hand Sanitizer
• Crayons – 24 count boxes
• Pencils – Ticonderoga brand, 24 ct
• Glue sticks – Elmer’s brand
• Fiskar Scissors – children’s point tip

• Crayola Markers
• Composition Notebooks
• Colored Pencils
• Spiral Notebook – Single subject, wide rule
• Rulers – Metric and Standard

Please note donations are not a requirement. All delegates will be participating in the service project as there will be many activities including creating birthday cards for shelters, children's activity books and other projects. Details will be provided at session.
