ALA Girls Nation / AL Boys Nation

4 individuals (2 young men and 2 young women) from American Legion & American Legion Auxiliary New Mexico Staters will have the honor of representing New Mexico in Washington D.C. as Senators at the American Legion Auxiliary Girls Nation and American Legion Boys Nation programs.

 

ALA Girls Nation and AL Boys Nation Senators are a select group of 200 young men and women from across the United States that gather to discuss bills, meet their U.S. Senators and/or staff on Capitol Hill, experience the sites and history of our nation's capital and may even get the opportunity to visit the White House and meet our President. ALA Girls Nation Program

July 19-26, 2025

AL Boys Nation Program

July 18-25, 2025


Delegates will be selected through a multi stage selection process which includes being selected by staff for their stand out attitude, participation and abilities, interviewed by a board on their qualifications and opinions on current event topics, and then given time to give a speech to the entire NM Staters body and be elected by the delegates.

All expenses are paid for this trip by the Department of New Mexico American Legion Auxiliary/American Legion. Delegates are expected to return to the following year's NM Staters program as a Junior Counselor staff member and share their experiences with new delegates, as well as attend an American Legion/American Legion Auxiliary Department Conference to share their experiences.

 

The 2026 session of New Mexico Staters is May 31 - June 5, 2026.
