Community Service Project

While practicing government during the week delegates will also get the opportunity to  practice good citizenship. Our Community Service Projects this year include a book drive, making little libraries to post around the state, and creating blessing bags

 

If anyone is interested in bringing donations please bring them to check-in.

Little Libraries

These are small neighborhood bookcases that promote literacy through book exchanges. Typically housing 20-40 books. These are open to the public to take, read, and exchange.

Needed:

Books! - New or lightly used.

Blessing Bags​

Blessing Bags are small care packages given to people experiencing homelessness in our community filled with basic need items.

Donated items needed for bags:
  • Socks 

  • Toothbrush 

  • Soap 

  • Travel size shampoo/conditioner 

  • Deodorant 

  • Bottled water

  • Water flavor add in packets 

  • Crackers 

  • Pretzels 

  • Apple sauce 

  • Granola Bars 

  • Tuna Packets 

Please note donations are not a requirement. All delegates will be participating in the community service projects as there will be many tasks to complete these projects. Details will be provided at session.

In addition to donated items, monetary donations are always helpful as basic supplies (paint, wood, bags, etc) and additional items to have full packs need to be purchased to complete the projects.

 

Monetary donations can be:

  • sent to the ALA Dept Office 1215 Mountain Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102

  • brought to session

  • or submitted online through the donate button in the top right corner.

 

Make sure to note the funds are for the service project.
